CHICAGO — Sandy Rodriguez, most recently with Roche Diagnostics, will be joining McDonald’s as VP of US communications. Starting May 2, Rodriguez will be tasked with driving McDonald’s USA’s reputation and brand trust strategy. She will also continue to build on the brand’s effort to foster local connections and be the point person for local and national community programs, according to a memo viewed by PRovoke Media. Rodriguez will serve as a member of the US SLT, the global impact leadership team, and the communications leadership team. In addition to the direct oversight of the US communications team, Rodriguez will manage reports from within communications as well as the fast-food giant’s three other ‘Global Impact Centers of Excellence'. Rodriguez is filling a role that has been open since February 2021, when Dave Tovar was promoted to US chief corporate relations officer as part of a larger restructuring, that included Michael Gonda being named CCO. Tovar has since joined Grubhub as senior VP of communications & government relations. Rodriguez joins after less than two years as VP of communications at Roche Diagnostics US. Before Roche, she spent nearly 16 years at Takeda, where she most recently served as VP of global integration & divestitures communications.
